Rights and Wrongs:
A Constitution Day Conference at San Francisco State University 2025

Poster Design

For 2025, the poster uses the visual language of a chessboard to stage a quiet confrontation between opposing forces, evoking the ongoing tension between the Republican and Democratic parties. A large red king, tilted and in motion, dominates the foreground, while a blue piece is held mid-air by an unseen hand, suggesting both intervention and uncertainty. Smaller blue pawns remain scattered across the board, their scale and placement hinting at collective presence against concentrated power. The figures are simplified and graphic, with bold color contrasts of red, blue, and neutral tones standing in for ideological divides. Together, these elements gesture toward the shifting dynamics of rights, authority, and dissent; an apt reflection on constitutional ideals as they are continually negotiated, challenged, and redefined.
